If you have been going to the gym, you may have noticed there being individuals that would wear a big belt around their waist/lower back when they were performing exercises such as squats and deadlifts. These are powerlifting belts.
Lifting belts are belts that you wear around your lower back that help stabilize your lower back and core so you can lift more weight, reduce chances of back pain, and gain muscle.
They are widely used by powerlifters to ensure they can push as much weight as possible when they are competing.
Lever Lifting Belt VS Standard Lifting Belt?
A lever lifting belt is a lifting belt that is reinforced with a buckle or also known as a "lever", these lifting belts are more widely used by competitive powerlifters. This is because they are fit to the body sizes of the competitors and provide LOTS of support. You can also use lever lifting belt even if you're not a competitor!
A standard powerlifting belt "term used for standard lifting belts" are belts that have a buckle that is similar to a belt buckle. The belt I use is a standard lifting belt as I like to use certain levels of tightness depending on the exercise I do. These types of belts are much more common and are great for beginners as you don't have to be a powerlifter to use a belt.
At the end of the day, it's based on preference. If you have a body type/waist size that doesn't really change and you would like to use one setting for your exercises, a lever lifting belt is a good option.
If you have changing waist sizes and you like to go for a traditional belt style, then a traditional standard powerlifting belt wouldn't be a bad idea to get, especially if you're a beginner.
Who Can Use Lifting Belts?
Lifting belts can be used by anyone? There are no specific lifting belts for women, men, youngsters nor seniors. There are customizations that can cater towards these categories but for the most part, ALL PEOPLE CAN USE A LIFTING BELT FOR EXERCISE!!!
