One of the most bodily issues that comes with old age is back pain.
You might see it with some of your elder relatives, when they are constantly suffering while doing tasks that are pretty normal in our day to day lives.
Many older people suffer with pain (usually in their lower back) in their spines which make it hard for them to perform daily activities such as standing up from a chair, or bending down to get something off a lower shelf.
This is a common occurrence that is rarely spoken about, many people simply brush it off when they are young and just accept that they might have to deal with back pain one day.
However this isn't the case, there are a few ways to completely prevent back pain in the future or at least heavily reduce it. This can be done with exercise!
By building a strong and stable back with exercise, you can effectively reduce your chances of having to deal with back issues in the future!
Just look at Arnold Schwarzenegger (former professional bodybuilder), he is 76 years old and has a healthier back than people who are DECADES younger than him!
This is because he trained his back in his youth and you can too!
Here is our guide on how to train your back so you can not only have a healthier back, but to also prevent any issues with it in the future!
What to Do
There are a couple of exercises that you can do in order to release the tension in your back and reduce or even prevent any pain from even happening.
The exercises that are about to be shown are exercises that will help you reduce any sort of pain that may be in your lower back, these exercises involved core strength, flexibility and posture.
Posture is crucial as bad posture is one of the most common causes of back pain in elder people as well as younger people.
Being able to be flexible and have a strong core will help you release tension in the back as well as support your body when performing tasks that require you to use your back.
Hip Flexor Stretch:
This will release tension in your hip flexors which will increase mobility in your hips.
Having free hips will alleviate back pain.
Planks:
Planks are INCREDIBLE for your core and will force your hips and lower back to work in order to stabilize your body.
This in turn will strengthen your lower back, hips and your core which will allow you to prevent and reduce pain that you will feel in your back!
Pelvic Tilts:
These are fantastic to work out your lower back and to improve stability and mobility!
Regime
There are LOADS of other lower back exercises that you can look up online, these were simply the better ones that I recommend to release lower back tension.
Make sure to do these exercises often, if not then everyday. Try to find 20 minutes of your time to complete these exercises so you can reduce your current back pain.
Or, prevent any future back pain.
NOTE: Make sure to also avoid doing activities that can rigorously put tension on your back if you already face issues with lower back pain!
Always try to maintain good posture in order to prevent any sort of potential pain to your back.
