Why Do We Procrastinate?

Procrastination arises from many different sources. In order to beat the procrastination cycle, we must understand why the problem occurs. Procrastination often stems from issues such as lack of motivation, fear of failure, and difficulty of prioritizing your tasks. Many people procrastinate because they are simply lazy, even if they have free time right now, they would rather scroll through TikTok or watch Netflix instead of completing the tasks that they need to be doing.

Why Is Procrastination So Bad?

The reason why procrastination is so bad is because it hinders on your personal growth. By not completing necessary tasks and objectives on time and in a timely fashion, not only is the performance on those tasks going to be poor, but it will create recurring habits that will make you VERY LAZY.

Why Should I Overcome My Procrastination Habits?

The more productive you are, the more work you get done. This increase in productivity will exponentially increase your amount of the work that you get done, this in turn can lead to great things such as higher income, better grades and the ability to outwork your competition.

Alright, let's get into some things that you have to change about yourself in order to boost your efficiency:

Procrastination Busters

Time Management:

Effective time management is a crucial aspect of defeating your fight with procrastination. By allocating time slots in your day to certain tasks, and by sticking to those time slots as close as possible, you allow yourself to get more things done.

Eliminate Distractions:

The reason why most people start procrastinating is because they have too many things around them that can distract them from doing work. YOUR PHONE, being the biggest one. I suggest that you keep your phone and any other distractions such as video games, books and people outside of the place that you plan to work.

Task Prioritization:

By prioritizing tasks based on their importance (do the important tasks first and then do the less important ones later), you allow yourself to get more done if you are short on time. Furthermore, it is easier to break down big tasks into smaller steps to avoid brain fog.

Self Discipline:

This is the character trait of being self-accountable. By making yourself accountable for your actions, you are the person that is keeping you on your heels. You must build self-discipline in order for you to boost your efficiency.

Remember, you are the only person who can pull off your dreams, and you are the only person who can mess them up.

Find ways to motivate yourself for completing tasks, maybe something like a reward after completing your tasks? Either way, try to stay as motivated as possible, because although productivity is based on self-discipline, motivation definitely does help.
